O’Connor MacLeod Hanna (OMH) is the largest full-service law firm in the Halton Region.

Social events at the firm have included everything from fine dining at our Christmas parties to croquet and bocce ball barbecues on the front lawn of our premises. We have escaped from locked rooms, cruised the great lakes, ridden the iron horse through the Credit Valley, walked the tight ropes in Blue Mountain, attended the horse races at Mohawk Raceway and taken in a show at Stage West, among numerous other events.

    • Practical experience & mentorship

      Unlike some larger firms, OMH provides very practical experience in the practice of law. You will do much more at this firm than just prepare research memoranda. Students are regularly provided with the opportunity to attend court and to work on a range of files under a supervising lawyer, with direct client contact.

      At OMH, we have a well-established open-door policy for our students and each other. We find that this policy allows each articling student to engage all the lawyers here and develop a mentor relationship naturally, which helps to ensure that the student gets as much support as necessary.

      The Town of Oakville is a dynamic, growing community with ample opportunity for business development. On the personal side, it also happens to be a wonderful place to live and work. Deciding to article in Oakville is a positive lifestyle choice, and many of the lawyers in our firm live in Oakville or other municipalities in the Region of Halton. Oakville may be the place for you if you find yourself “turned off” by the thought of long commutes and the crowded downtown Toronto environment.

      We invest in our students

      Many of the lawyers at OMH began their legal careers with the firm through our articling program. We believe that this is the best way to develop and expand our firm. Approximately half the lawyers at OMH are former articling students of the firm. That means we are committed to helping you grow and develop your skills, focusing on your long-term growth and career trajectory at every step.

  • CORPORATE COMMERCIAL LAWYER (2+ years)

Commitment to client service, excellent value and a strong involvement in the community have consistently made us Oakville’s and Halton’s law firm of choice.

       

      The firm’s thriving business law department has an opening for a corporate and commercial lawyer with an opportunity to develop a successful business law practice in a wonderful community. The successful candidate would advise small, medium and large privately-owned businesses and not-for-profit/charitable organizations on various matters including the following:

      • Mergers, acquisitions and sales of businesses
      • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating various commercial contracts and agreements including, without limitation, leases and shareholders' agreements
      • Assisting clients with business structuring and incorporating companies
      • Incorporating and advising not-for-profit and charity organizations
      • Implementing corporate reorganizations and amalgamations
      • Financing transactions

      The ideal candidate will have two or more years of experience in corporate and commercial law. Candidates should be motivated, have strong client relationship skills, be team oriented and demonstrate an interest in business development.

      Remuneration will be commensurate with experience and ability.
