Chantel Goldsmith
Practice:
Chantel Goldsmith practices employment and labour law, and civil litigation, with a focus in the following areas:
- Wrongful Dismissal
- Human Rights - Harassment and Discrimination
- Employment Standards
- Employment Contracts and Policies
- Collective bargaining
- Labour arbitrations
- Occupational Health and Safety Act matters
- Workplace Safety and Insurance Act matters
- Chantel’s civil litigation practice involves work before all levels of the Ontario Courts on actions, applications, judicial reviews and appeals, as well as appearing at a variety of Boards and Tribunals.
Chantel’s previous work experience included the Ministry of Community and Social Services, Legal Services Branch and acting as a Prosecutor for contraventions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act on behalf of the Ontario Ministry of Labour.
Professional Activities:
Chantel is a member of the Ontario Bar Association and the Halton County Law Association.
Chantel is the firm's Gender Diversity Officer for the Law Society of Upper Canada's Justicia Project, which focuses on the retention of women in private practice.
Community Activities:
Chantel sits on the Reach Out Centre for Kids (ROCK) Board of Directors.
Chantel is an active member of the Métis Nation of Ontario, and formally held the positions of Ontario Representative of the Métis National Youth Advisory Committee and the Métis Nation of Ontario Youth Council.
While at law school, Chantel was a founding member and Vice-President of the Osgoode Indigenous Students’ Association and was selected as a participant in Canada’s National Aboriginal Law Moot.
Chantel is an avid yoga enthusiast, horseback rider, slo-pitch player and snowboarder.
